The pit is annotated as a Quarry on the Ordnance Survey 25 inch first and second edition maps and might therefore have remained in use into the early 20th century. The Lidar data shows the earthwork pits as more extensive than shown on the historic map and it might therefore have remained in use into the mid to late twentieth century.
