Flint Artefacts collected on the surface by Powell 1918-19. Excavations by Woods at Bovey Lane, Beer in 1925, 1928 and 1932-3.
Large numbers of waste flints and implements in the plough soil northwest of Beer. Numerous shallows 3-9m in diameter at SY 518898, said locally to be old marl pits.
A large landslip on the west side of Beer Head provided flint for a gun-flint industry in the early 19th Century to help meet demands for the Napoleonic War.
