Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

Milestone (M.S) marked on 1880s-1890s 25 inch Ordnance Survey map. No mileages given.


Jenkinson, T., 2005, B3195/A381 Newton Abbot to Teignmouth (Report - Survey). SDV323958.

Inscribed milestone located approximately 30 metres west of King's Arms roundabout, in a wall on the path above leat. In fair condition, although there are chips to the front edge. No paint cover. The milestones along this route are mostly intact and of a distinctive shape and tend to show distances in both miles and poles. They were most probably placed by the Newton Bushel Trunpike Trust some time after its inception in 1765. Inscribed 1/mile to/Newton/14 Miles to/Exeter.
