REASONS FOR DESIGNATION DECISION
It was recommended that Manor barn be removed from the List for the following principal reason: Lack of special interest. The building was almost entirely rebuilt in 1988 and the replacement building, Manor Barn, does not have special architectural or historic interest.
Manor Barn was first listed on 17 July 1987 when it was identified as a barn of late C18 date. However, map evidence indicates that it was not constructed until the mid-late C19. A later date of construction can affect the case for listing but the overriding matter for consideration in this assessment is that the building was almost entirely rebuilt and converted to a dwelling in 1988. A very small proportion of historic fabric remains and although the rebuilding was to a high standard it does not retain special architectural or historic interest.

Child, P., c.1987, Bank Barn, Manor Farm, Coffinswell (Ground Photograph). SDV365686.
