Full description
South West Heritage Trust, 1838-1848, Digitised Tithe Maps and Transcribed Apportionments (Cartographic). SDV359954.
Large rectangular building shown on the Tithe Map, aligned roughly south-west by north-east.

The late 19th century historic map shows the dwelling, with a new wing at the front at right angles to the house.

Knaphole.
House, formerly farmhouse. Circa early 16th century, extended in 17th century. Rendered granite rubble walls. Three chimney stacks. All have dripmoulds and granite capping stones.
Plan of four rooms and through/cross passage. Probably extended in 17th century. Two storeys.
Good unspoilt interior. Passage has plank and muntin screen either side, muntins are chamfered with worn straight cut stops. Wooden newel staircase.
Roof structural features. Very wide fireplace with wooden lintel chamfered with hollow step stops. It has two ovens. Stone newel staircase to right of fireplace. See designation record for full details.
