Trellick is one of the few surviving Devon British place names incorporating the "tre", "trev" or "homestead" element. It was first mentioned as 'Trevelak' in 1249, 'Treverek' in 1281 & 'Treveleck' in 1333

Pearce argues that Trellick was a functioning settlement in the early Christian period.
