Pearse Chope, R., 1929, Frithelstock Priory, 176-177 (Article in Serial). SDV18668.

The chapel was sited near a wood called 'Wadeclyve' and was erected by a prior of Frithelstock. The bishop objected to the site as being sacrilegious and the chapel was demolished in 1352. Possible location given at Mount Pleasant SS47601934.

Brown, T., 1959, The Black Dog in Devon (Article in Serial). SDV46057.

Unauthorised chapel built in a grove on hillside where the priory stood. Had a statue banned by bishop in 1351 (reg. Grandisson,1079 and 1110-2). May have been an ancient statue of Diana used to represent our lady. A form of Nemetona-Diana?
