Full description

Department of Environment, 1988, Molland, 67 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV337231.

House, late 17th or early 18th century, remodelled probably in the late 19th or early 20th century. Cement rendered, probably over stone rubble and cob. Gable-ended asbestos-slate roof, with catslide over outshut at rear. Rendered stacks at gable ends.
Plan and development: 2-room plan facing south. Larger principal room to left with integral end stack and entrance at its right-hand end, and smaller room to right with external end stack. Continuous outshut at rear. Front entrance to right-hand room, probably inserted in the late 19th century. This suggests that the house might have been divided at some time. Two-storeys.
Exterior: nearly symmetrical 2 window front; probably late 19th century small paned 2-light wooden casements, that on ground floor to left with segmental head. Twentieth century half-glazed segmental-headed door just off centre to left. Probably inserted 20th century half-glazed door to far right.
Interior: left-hand ground-floor room has 2 plastered chamfered cross beams and blocked old fireplace. Plastered cross beam in right hand room.

Bannister, N. R. + Bannister, D. E., 1992, Historic Landscape Survey of the Molland Estate, South Molton, Devon: Volume II. The Buildings, 25 (Report - Survey). SDV343745.

A detached house adjoining the old school building and probably the teachers' accommodation although it predates the school. The earlier Ordnance Survey maps show it divided into two, which is borne out by the listing notes. It is also shown on the Tithe Map and is described as 'Two Cottages and Gardens'.
