Name: | Tin streamworking at Newleycombe Lake |
---|
Summary
Linear tin streamworking extending from open moorland to the junction with the extensive Newleycombe Lake workings that follow a parallel course in the valley to the north (SX 57 NE 142). Both of these deep valleys open out into a broad area of tin workings that lies between the two streams and also extend down to Norsworthy Bridge. The boundaries of the linear workings are defined by pronounced tinners scarps; internally there are numerous spoil heaps and water channels. A leat that conveys water from the Newleycombe Lake to a wheel pit one kilometre distant crosses these workings on a slight earthen embankment.
