Summary
A bank and ditch defined curvilinear enclosure of probable Iron Age to Roman date is visible as a cropmark of a ditch on aerial photographs of 1989 and as a slight earthwork bank on images derived from lidar data of 2021, sited on an east facing spur on the lower slopes of a combe to the northeast of Sherford Cross, East Allington parish.

Vis=7/3/1992 (robinson) + 17/3/1992 (griffith + robinson) enclosure is dramatically sited in a strongly defensive position. It occupies the level summit of a small steep sided knoll in the side of a small valley (dprfp).

A curvilinear bank defining the southwest corner of an enclosure is visible as a subtle earthwork up to 10m wide. Two northwest to southeast orientated banks or mounds up to 35m long and 8m wide are visible as low earthworks within the enclosed area but their relationship to the outer bank is unclear.
