Full description

Department of Environment, 1972, Honiton, 14 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV337401.

Dated 21/03/1972. Numbers 95 to 99, High Street, Honiton. Good group on the corner of Church Street. Numbers 95 and 97 are probably 18th century, altered, pair, 3 storey and attic, casement dormer, flush frame sash windows at upper floors, glazing bars remain to Number 97. Canted bay first floor on Number 97, and 19th century wood shop front. Number 99, is probably 18th century or early 19th century, 3 storey, flush frame sash windows with glazing bars and second floor, canted bay, first floor, with glazing bars. 19th century wood shop front with pilasters, roughcast. Entrance on return west with fanlight and one sash window with exposed frame and glazing bars at first and second floor.

In the High Street are a number of buildings of note, including Numbers 95 to 99 (odd), good early 18th century brick, overpainted. The statutory list regards Numbers 73 to 91 (odd), 91A, and 93 to 101 (odd) together with Allhallows' Chapel (now a museum) as forming a particularly cohesive group. Maps.
