The west end of High Street is the commercial heart of the town with some residential accommodation over shops and behind the main frontage. The statutory list regards 1-4, Central Place (reached through the central archway) as a cohesive group with the rears of 135, 135A, 137 and 137A, while 131 to 137 are also regarded as a cohesive group. Numbers 135A, 135B and 137 High Street. North side. Has been a good 3 storey 3 window 18th century brick front, now painted, and with first floor side canted bays. Shop fronts inserted each side of centre carriageway, which has original pannelled doors. Second floor band, and part of first floor band. Wood agee bracket eaves cornice, steep slate roof. May have older timber framed house behind. Date listed: 21st March 1972.
