Full description

Department of Environment, 1972, Honiton, 21 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV337401.

Number 239 High Street. Late 18th or early 19th century, 2 storey 5 sash windows at 1st floor with glazing bars, stucco house, plinth. Wood doorcase with moulded pilasters. Ogee bracket cornice. Slates.

A steep dip to the west of the High Street is created by the Gissage Brook. Buildings form tight, mainly two storey, street frontages of modest proportions. The statutory list regards numbers 229-239 as forming a particularly cohesive group. Maps.
