Colby, F. T., 1875, The History of Great Torrington, 98 (Article in Serial). SDV19181.
Monument in the old parish church to John Greenwood, four times Mayor, who died 26th April, 1619. Inscribed: "invida mors quamvis jungi non amplius uno/non sinat in thalamo, non vetat in tumulo. /sylva fui quondam viridis, nunc arida; tempus/cum viror et vires restituentur, erit". /.
