Full description

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1950, SX57SE19 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV219145.

Remains of hut circle OO; a large double-walled type, measuring 8.5 meters in diameter, with 1.5 meter wide walls, remaining to a height of 0.5 meters. The wall is composed of large boulders, partly turf covered. Only the northern half of the circle remains; the southern side has been destroyed by road making. Condition of the remains good. There is no sign of entrance in existing half.

Hut circle within a large partially enclosed settlement. Terraced into the hill slope and is of the simple plan and double orthostat walling type. Interior measures 6.0 meters in diameter and is defined by a 2.2 meters wide wall standing up to 0.7 meters high, except on the south-western side where the construction of the highway has removed a short length of walling.

Hut circle number 5 (SX55577507). Measures 6.9 meters in diameter internally and walls survive to a height of 0.5 meters and width of 1.4 meters. An entrance gap exists on the south western side of the circle. Other details: 12 (Fig 4).
