Windmill now derelict and roofless. C18, according to sources there was a date stone of 'F. B.1756' but no sign of this was visible when the inspection was made (1987). Squared stone rubble tapering walls. Roofless circular plan with evidence of two doorways although only the ne one is definitely original. This has a heavy wooden lintel on the inside and the stonework on the outside suggests that the doorway was originally arched. Walls extend to approx 20-25ft high and there are two window openings fairly high up. The mill was formerly used for pumping water to Heanton Satchville (PRN 18032) in the adjoining parish of Huish for which a pipeline still exists.

Goodyear, R. I., 1990, Place Name (Worksheet). SDV219.

Heanton corn mill (disused). Recorded in field to east of Little Silver. Shown on photocopy of 25" OS first edition map see worksheet.
