Full description

Department of Environment, 1951, Okehampton MB, 1 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV264368.

Two storey ashlar-built house with slate roof. The front has a portico extending the full height of the building with four Doric columns supporting an entablature and pediment. South elevation recessed in centre with two Ionic columns. 18th century.

Ionic four-column giant portico on one side and a two-column giant loggia on the other, all of pink sandstone and perfectly flat roofed.

Mansion built c.1830, designed by Charles Vokins, a Pimlico architect. Described as having a noble portico erected in a Grecian style.

Circa 1820 by Charles Vobins of Pimlico. Fine Neo-Classical mansion in small park. Ashlar with slate hipped roof. Two storeys.
East front 2:3:2 bays divided by giant pilasters supporting massive entablature with parapet, the centre breaks forward with pedimented portico on 4 giant Ionic columns. Moulded architrave to tall 8-panel doors and round headed niches flanking central first floor window. Sash windows with glazing bars in moulded architraves and band at all level. South garden front 1:3:1 bays end bay flanked by giant pilasters, centre has 2 giant Ionic columns in artis, all supporting massive entablature.
Interior: divided but retains original vestibule and some of the principal rooms remain intact. But the hall which had 12 scagliola columns with Corinthian capitals has been virtually rebuilt.
It is illustrated in London's Encyclopaedia.
