Full description
Department of Environment, 1989, West Exe Spot List (Un-published). SDV349237.
Nos 26 - 36 John Street. Terrace of six working-class or artisans' houses, identical with nos 31-35, opposite. About 1900. Nos 26, 30, 32, and 36 retain their original doors, nos 26, 30 and 32 with old knockers; no 36 has no knocker, but retains an old letterbox. Six-paned sashes in windows at nos 30,32 and 36. Dormers are complete, with two-light wood casements having two panes per light at nos 30, 32 and 36. Other doors and windows are late 20th century plastic or aluminium-framed replacements. Interiors not inspected. These were Heathcoat-built houses. The whole of John Street is shown as built up on the 25-inch Ordnance Survey map of 1903.
