Full description
MASSON PHILLIPS 1937,1959, Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV140805.
Mothecombe house. On a low wall flanking a terrace at the se corner of the house is a socket stone of the usual square to octagonal type, upside down, with the centre hollowed out as a trough. Type b or c. This is the cross base which previously stood at great orcheton (masson phillips 1937,1959).

Mothecombe Cottage SX608478
A socket stone lies on the front lawn of the cottage, south-west of Mothecombe House, Holbeton. A socket stone of granite in the shape of a regular octagon with a chamfered top edge, hollowed out to form a trough.
Socket stone 1.04 by 1.04 metres by 0.43 metres high. Inside 0.81 metres in diameter (roughly circular).
