Hornshill Farm is depicted as ranges of buildings along the north and south sides of a long rectangular courtyard.

Ordnance Survey, 1904 - 1906, Second Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch Map (Cartographic). SDV325644.

The map shows the southern range of the original farmstead to have been demolished and a new model farm type, courtyard range of farm buildings to have been built to the north.

Sale document (1921) refers to an estate yard, with various workshops, stone-built and slated, enclosing a large open yard. Also within the Poltimore Estate grounds were the gardener's bothy, two pairs of brick-built and slated model cottages, and a further group of four brick-built and slated model cottages.
