Summary

Hut circle '62' lies around 133 metres east-south-east of Hut '61'. Excavated in 1905, at first it had a circular appearance with a central depression, however no sign of habitation was uncovered and it was assumed to have served some other purpose.

Anderson, I. K., 1906, 11th Report of the Dartmoor Exploration Committee (Article in Serial). SDV337055.

One of a settlement of around 94 huts at Watern Oke. Hut 62 lies around 146 yards (133m) east-south-east of hut 61 (MDV3552). Excavated in 1905, at first it had a circular appearance with a central depression, however no sign of habitation was uncovered and it was assumed to have served some other purpose.

(1990) SX 5668 8333 A stone hut circle forming part of the unenclosed stone hut circle settlement at Watern Oke. Hut circle of stone and earth walls. Internal diameter 4m. Wall 1.5m wide, 0.6m high.

(1992) SX 5667 8332 Hut circle terraced into the hillslope. Simple plan and rubble bank walling type. The interior measures 4m in diameter and is surrounded by a 1.5m wide wall standing up to 0.6m high. Excavations by the Dartmoor Exploration Committee in 1905 revealed no traces of habitation within this building.

The isolated feature '1' to the east of the main Watern Oke settlement was first thought to be a hut circle but the circular depression was later proved not to be so.
