Milestone at lower bowcombe. On the totnes - plymouth road, b3210, between lower bowcombe and ludbrook. The stone stands in the hedge on the s side of the road, and reads 9 miles to totnes, 13 miles to plymouth. It stands above a grass verge. The inscriptions are on adjacent sides: the letters in roman characters, the figures in arabic. On the w face, above the totnes inscription, there is a bench mark in the form of an arrow with the head just reaching the top of the stone (masson phillips).
