Hut Circle '40' of 2.3 metres diameter with walls 1 metre wide by up to 0.4 metres high with an entrance in the south at Watern Oke settlement. The north and west walls are defined by earthfast boulders. Excavations in 1905 revealed a fireplace

Full description

Anderson, I. K., 1906, 11th Report of the Dartmoor Exploration Committee, 108, hut 40 (Article in Serial). SDV337055.

Hut 40; at largest, this features measures 12 feet (3.66m) by 7 feet (2.13m). It was rough and constructed of large rocks, probably a cooking pit; fireplace at south-western corner.

(1992) Hut circle terraced into hillslope. Simple plan and rubble walls type. North and western walls are defined by earthfast boulders. The interior measures 2.3m in diameter and is defined by a 1m wide wall standing up to 0.4m high. The doorway faces south and is defined by facing stones. Excavations by the Dartmoor Exploration Committee in 1905 revealed a fire-place.
