Name:Cairn near settlement south-west of Lower Hartor Tor, Sheepstor

Summary

A Bronze Age cairn in the form of a low heather covered mound 10.8m in diameter and up to 1.0m high composed of fist-sized stones and small boulders. A linear trench has been cut from the SW side of the mound into the centre to a maximum 1.2m deep. The spoil has been deposited either around the top of the trench or on the SW side. There is no evidence of a central cist although the bottom of the trench is covered by debris. A scheduled ancient monument.

(07/06/1950) Cairn. Large hollow in centre. Diameter 10m, height 1.5m. Lower Harter Tor. On the slope there is a cairn which has been broken into (citing Worth).

Lower Hartor Tor cairn at SX60176730 of 10.5 metres diameter by 1.0 metres high. Cairn built just outside the perimeter of the enclosed hut circle settlement to the south-west of Lower Hartor Tor. It has been broken into at the centre to reveal a careful construction of layered slabs set at an angle.

Cairn to the south-west of Lower Hartor Tor lies on a south-facing slope above the River Plym and close to an enclosure with hut circles. It consists of a heather-covered mound 11 metres in diameter and over a metre in height, with a hollow in the centre.
