'Beardown' farmstead shown on 19th century Tithe Map.

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

'Beardown' shown on 19th century map as an irregular shaped building with an L-shaped building to the west and a rectangular building to the north. A woodland is shown on the west side and further trees to the east.

Reference by Swete to Bear down Farm, owned at that time by Mr. Bray, resident of Tavistock and steward to the Duke of Bedford. The accompanying illustration shows the farm to be situated in a rather exposed location.
