Full description
Worth, R. H., 1931, 50th Report on Barrows, 81 (Article in Serial). SDV152078.
Kistvaen. Two side stones and the western end stone are in place, the eastern end stone has either been removed or has fallen out of upright, the point cannot be determined without excavation. Length of kistvaen cannot have exceeded 686 millimetres, width is 559 millimetres (both internal measurements) the depth cannot be ascertained. The cover stone is very irregular, due to purely natural causes, its greatest length is 1.397 metres and its greatest width is 1.067 metres. A low cairn surrounds the grave, margined by the remains of a retaining circle, some 4.877 metres to 5.486 metres in internal diameter.

(17/05/1950) Previous descriptions and dimensions are accurate, with the exception of the retaining circle, which is doubtful.
(12/09/1978) A largely heather-covered cairn 7.0m. in diameter and 0.5m. in height is situated on a north slope at 435m. OD. There is no retaining circle but stone is exposed on the east side of the perimeter near the off-centre cist.
This would seem to conform to Worth's plan but the cover-stone, 1.0m. by 1.3m. has been replaced over the cist.
Surveyed at 1:10 000 on PFD.

Langcombe Brook '4' cairn at SX61246630 of 8.0 metres diameter by 0.4 metres high with a cist. It was first recorded in 1931. Numerous stones show through the surface, some upended in an inner ring closely surrounding the cist, and a series of larger slabs of an outer retaining circle lie around the base. The cist seems to have been dug into from the eastern end, concealed by an irregularly shaped capstone, but three sides at least are present. A small area of turf has fallen away from the north-west of the cairn revealing some neatly layered slabs around the base indicating a carefully constructed monument.
