The South West Water pipeline cut a leat 10m south of parish boundary, and again at SX 6290 5980, 200m west of Hall Farm. Route also cut The King's Gutter Leat (SX65NW/91) at SX 6305 5900. Examination of RAF vertical aerial photographs, subsequent to watching brief, shows these watercourses to be part of a watermeadow system extending from the parish boundary towards Pithill Farm. Channels had not originally been dug into subsoil. After abandonment of watermeadow system in late 19th century they were largely destroyed by ploughing.
Fig 2 shows the extent of the water system, including highlighting those plots that are marked as water meadows in 1838 (Tithe Map).
