Holne Lee '1' cairn at SX67846957 of 22.5 metres diameter by 1.2 metres high is deformed by a saucer shaped depression in the surface now turfed over and comparatively smooth, the product of some ancient excavation.
Probert, S. A. J. + Newman, P., 1997, Holne Moor, Dartmoor, Devonshire. A Landscape Survey by the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England (Report - Survey). SDV173671.
(06/01/1997) Group centred SX 67916960. These features are as described in 1977. The additional feature described by Grinsell is somewhat enigmatic. While from some aspects it resembles a cairn it is probably the debris from a prospecting pit allied to the nearby extensive tinworking remains.

'Cairn' shown on modern mapping.
Historic England, 2021, National Heritage List for England, 1019269 (National Heritage List for England). SDV364016.
The monument, which falls into three areas of protection, includes five cairns forming a cairn cemetery situated on a high ridge on Holne Lee overlooking the valley of the River Dart. Four of the mounds contain pits which indicate that they have been subjected to early undocumented investigations. This is a large cairn of 22.5 metres diameter and 1.1 metres high.
