Summary
Eastern of a pair of cairns on the summit of Gripper’s Hill. Cairn is 10.4 m diameter and 0.6 m high constructed of small boulders with a flat top, the centre of which has been disturbed. This site is on the local list of Nationally Important Dartmoor sites.

Full description
Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1950/1977, SX66NE14 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV146080.
(04/05/1950) One of two cairns; turf-covered with hollow in centre.
(01/07/1977) Two cairns on the broad summit of Gripper's Hill at 335 m above OD. Cairn 'A' at SX 68656551. A round cairn, 10.4 metres diameter and 0.6 metres high, is constructed of small boulders and has a flat top, the centre of which has been disturbed. 1:10 000 Survey revised on PFD.

Visited 11/10/1975. Cairn measuring 10.0 meters in diameter, height 0.7 meters with interior hollow (possibly from looting).

Gripper's Hill summit cairn '1' at SX68646549. A pair of large cairns occupy the highest point on Gripper's Hill. The eastern cairn of 11.0 metres diameter by 0.7 metres high has a hollowed centre.

This site was considered for designation as a Scheduled Ancient Monument during the Monument Protection Programme. The programme ended before the entire list of sites was successfully scheduled so this is included on a local list of Nationally Important Sites.
