An extractive pit is visible as an earthwork on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2015 and images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. A pit is depicted in this location on the late-19th and eary-20th century maps available to the survey. The earthwork visible on the lidar derived images most closely resembles that depicted on the 1930s Ordnance Survey Fourth Edition 25inch map. The earthworks are visible under pasture on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards. This might support the interpretation that pit had passed out of use by the 1940s.
The earthworks were not transcribed by the survey.
