Site of the manorial mills of Torrington. Demolished when the canal basin was constructed and replaced by the new Town Mills.

Town Mills at Great Torrington were mentioned in 1767 and 1797 and the mills at Rolle Bridge were mentioned circa 1845. In 1793 Great Torrington Town Mills included four grist mills, one malt mill and a shelling mill. The mills were demolished when the Rolle Canal was constructed and new mills were built a mile further up the River Torridge.
