Hobajohn's Cross, Piles Hill elevation 360 metres. This stone stands in line with the Butterdon Hill stone row, on the south side of Piles Hill. The stone is a tapered shape and has a cross (127 milimetres by 178 milimetres) incised on the west side near the top of the stone. A number of stones lie at its base.
This position agrees with the cross shown and named on the map believed to date from 1478. Formerly it was thought that Hobajohn's Cross was north of the Three Barrows, probably at the spot occupied by the Ermington boundary stone. Re-erected in 1800 (source unclear; probably Masson Phillips).

Hobajons Cross, at Longtitude 3o 53' 37"., Latitude 50o 25' 41" is incorrectly shown on the Ordnance Survey 6 inch historic map. It stands 1.4 metres in height, measures 0.5 metres by 0.2 metres at the base and is marked by an incised cross. Having fallen it was re-erected in 1800. It is in the Butterdon Hill stone row and was formerly thought to mark the end, but a map of 1803 shows an extension beyond it to the Longstone.
