Full description

1890, 91SE, Untitled Source (Report - Survey). SDV283834.

Vis=20/2/1997 (ea) at least 5 shallow channels run sw towards river in w side of this field. Channels run sw off n end of a low n/s bank which probably represents a field boundary as shown on 1st ed 6" map (1890, 91se).

Channels are 1-1/25m wide x less than 0.10m deep and are spaced 12-26m apart. They are just visible cut into the top of the bank, although cannot be seen extending on the e side of it. The channels run for 80m sw and appear to stop at another channel, c.5m across, which runs at right angles to them, some 44m e of the river.(ea).

Linear and curvilinear ditches located between Teign View Barn and the River Teign are likely represent a former field boundary depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition map, and possible evidence of former drains and water meadow of probable post-medieval date.
