Full description

DPRFP, Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV262469.

Vis=9/6/1997 (robinson) the length of the surviving sides of this enclosure are c.100m and it seems likely to have been a substantial site straddling the ridge. Lewdown farm overlies the ne corner. The cropmark continues the line of a surviving field boundary running s from lewdown cross. Here it ascends a gentle nw slope. The field boundary is of larger than usual size for the first few metres and there is a trace of a ditch to the sw side. Beyond the end of the modern boundary the enclosure shows as a massive but very ploughed out bank and ditch for 15-20m, fading as it approaches the corner but continuing as a low scarp along the s side. No other traces of enclosure in adjacent fields (dprfp).
