Captain attempted to beach her, because of bad leak, but badly holed in attempt and became total loss. Hundreds of scavengers invaded the wreck, taking anything of value, and a west country newspaper reported, 'they 'behaved in a most disgraceful manner, pillaging all they could lay their hands on, even personal photographs'. Eventually someone set fire to the remains, but pieces still remain beneath the cliffs on the cornborough side of the beach (larn, 1974).
