Summary

Plasterwork at Great Moor included a plaster overmantel depicting the sun within an ornamental surround, flanked by a pair of winged cherubs over the fireplace in the best bedroom and the ceiling of the parlour which comprised a central oval flanked by rectangular panels bearing sprays of oak leaf and laurel. The former was salvaged after the fire in 1977. It was restored and is now in Exeter Museum.

The 17th century plasterwork showing a sun face and cherubs was salvaged after the fire in 1977. It has been professionally restored and was deposited by the County Council in Exeter Museum in March 1981.

Late 17th century plaster overmantel from Great Moor Farmhouse which formerly stood over the fireplace of the best (east) bedroom. It depicts the sun within an ornamental surround, flanked by a pair of winged cherubs. Its simple homely manner contrasts dramatically with the other plasterwork of Great Moor - the splendid and refined ceiling of the parlour which comprised a central oval flanked by rectangular panels bearing sprays of oak leaf and laurel.
