"Next to the Chapter House would appear to have come the library. This was a room 48 feet long, but of the same width as the chapter house. " It probably stood south of that building, opening at the west end into the cloister (see 60686). It had 6 small windows in the south wall. The library does not appear to have been constructed as early as the other buildings but was in existence before 1369 (citing OS). There are no visible remains of the 14th century library, which was probably destroyed c1545, to judge from the post-dissolution inventory. The side, shown on Dalton's plan, is now part of the churchyard (citing Dalton).
