Building i. Supermarket, 45-46 high street (previously 42).

Three-storey building. Present frontage 19c. Ground floor remodelled; first + second floor frontage rendered with 8 sash windows. Cornice above second-storey windows. Tall brick chimney stacks. Modern brick-built extension to rear, extending back same distance as council offices (see ss54nw/159) as far as entry to yards.

By 1877 this was occupied by a baker + confectioner. By 1939 the building appears to have been occupied by the local officer of customs (exeter archaeology).
