Full description

Child, P. C., 2002, Farm buildings at West Irishborough (Correspondence). SDV322741.

Building D. Earlier 19th century traditional symmetrical corn barn with double threshing doors on either side of the long axis which is presumably built as the successor to the other threshing barn (Building C) when the latter was truncated. It is of stone construction to head height with cob above. The threshing floor has gone and the building has been re-roofed. Map object based on this source.

Child, P., 2002, West Irishborough Farm (Correspondence). SDV366742.

Two groups of grattiti found in the barn, one probably showing a 1771 date and the other showing 1765 and 1773 suggest that the barn is earlier than previously thought. However, it does have a modern roof.
