Exeter Archaeology, 1999, Archaeological Assessment of SWW Rothernbridge to Brynsworthy Water Main: Stage 1 (Rothernbridge to Gammaton Moor), 7 (Report - Assessment). SDV449.
A possible shrunken settlement is suggested at Southcott. The 1947 aerial photographs show surface irregularities in a field to the east of Southcott Barton farm. Deeds of the farm from 1673 + 1705 mention eleven cottages one of which was occupied by Rrichard Warmington + the 1837 Tithe Map Apportionment names a field to the northeast of the farm as 'Warmington's Meadow'.
