Kennels shown on 19th century map. The structure was also present on the 1841 Townstal Tithe Map within a field called 'Hoppy Meadow' which was described as pasture and waste. The field to the north was called 'Kennel Lower Field'. The early 20th century map suggests the structure had been abandoned when the Royal Naval College beagle pack was housed in kennels circa 150 metres west of the college.
