Middle Lodge, shown on 19th century maps to the west of Townstal Farm, had a stone tower and archway. The building has been incorporated into Archway Cottage. Formerly one of three lodges on the Mount Boone estate.

Plot 118 described as Lower Lodge & Plantations'.

Plot 118 shows a simple rectangular building on the west side of the road, marked 'Lodge'.

Middle Lodge, sited on the carriage drive from the Higher Lodge passed over the lane to Old Mill Creek. It was described in 1869 as built of stone and slate in the form of a tower with an arched gateway. The property was later known as Archway Cottage.

There were three lodges by the various entrances to the (Mount Boone) estate. Higher Lodge, Lower Lodge and Sandquay Lodge. These lodges are shown on the Tithe Map. Higher Lodge no longer exists, but Lower Lodge has been converted into Archway Cottage.
