List of fish traps recorded as hazards to shipping on 19th century charts, includes Harte Weir and 3 others at Crow Point which are extant. A large number of posts were located in this area by members of North Devon Archaeological Society.

Documentary sources refer to disputes concerning the removal of fish weirs at Crow Point. The Denham map of 1832 shows fish weirs as chevron-like features, with numbers 1-4 to the south and west of Crow Point. A measured survey at Crow Point was undertaken by members of North Devon Archaeological Society.

May also have been known as 'New Weir'. Referred to in a legal letter of 1847 as a navigational hazard. A survey of a weir circa 200 metres from Crow Point lighthouse, in 2001, corresponds approximately with the location of Upper weir, but the apparent 'wings' of the surveyed weir are pointing downstream, in contrast to the documented weir. It is possible that the southern wing of the surveyed weir is the southern wing of upper weir as it is on a similar alignment. The other wing may represent another weir or a rebuild.
