Name:Cross in churchyard, Spreyton

Summary

In the churchyard, at the north-west corner of the church tower stand three stones supporting a millstone (the old disused font formerly stood on these three stones). The three dressed stones are in an upright position, they were found in the Glebe, and are said to be part of a cross. One of the stones has a chamfered edge.

Vis=4/4/1952 (os) in the churchyard. Miss clarke, describing the old disused font bowl in the churchyard (now in the church), says it "rests on three stones which were found in the glebe. They are dressed stones, and were perhaps part of a cross" (os).

The three dressed stones are in an upright position, they were found in the Glebe, and are said to be part of a cross. One of the stones has a chamfered edge.
Stone A height 0.43 metres, width 0.22 by 0.16 metres chamfered. Stone B height 0.40 metres, width 0.22 by 0.15 metres. Stone C height 0.40 metres, width 0.17 by 0.15 metres.
