Full description

Enclosure W (51m by 40m) and pound (diameter 15.5m, height 0.7m); one of five enclosures between White Hill and Small Brook. (09/08/1950) Enclosure wall well defined and composed of large stones mostly fallen no obvious entrance. On the north-west perimeter are remains of what must be small pound composed of unusually large stones. Two large stones presumably door jambs mark possible entrance to the south-south-east.

Strawberry-shaped enclosure with a sub-circular agglomeration (perhaps primary) built into its northern wall visible on the 1979 aerial photograph. The sub-circular enclosure contains one attached hut circle, and there is another hut circle attached to the outer wall of the main enclosure (two fragments of reave are also visible, one attached to the south of the enclosure).

Gerrard, S., 1990-2002, Monument Protection Programme. Archaeological Item Dataset., MPP 140777 (Report - Survey). SDV277946.

(14/06/1996) Agglomerated enclosure forming part of a discrete concentration of structures which together with other nucleations form a large settlement complex. The primary element of the enclosure survives as an 18m by 16m circular area defined by a 1.6m wide and 0.9m high orthostatic wall. The secondary element is attached to the south-east side and survives as 52m by 46m sub-oval area defined by a wall of similar character to the first. A length of boundary wall leading s from this enclosure may indicate that there was a third element to this agglomerated enclosure, but its extent and character remains unknown. A hut circle is linked to the northern length of the primary enclosure walling.

Butler, J., 1991, Dartmoor Atlas of Antiquities: Volume Two - The North, 200-202, map 40 Figure 40.1 (Monograph). SDV219155.

Enclosure '2' to the north of Small Brook with one hut circle of 3.5 metres diameter on the north side of a paddock of 12.5 metres across which is attached to the enclosure wall. A pair of tall pillars, one flat and the other leaning in the paddock wall opposite the hut look as though they once formed a monumental entrance. The curved bank to the south of the enclosure may originally have connected to the reave to the west.
