Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV148.

'sockwell' is shown on os 25" (1880s) map as a rectangualar building in an irregular shaped enclosure to the south of the road junction with a well adjoining to the west. The building as shown as 'stockwell' on the os 1:10560 (1963) map & as 'sockwell cottage' on modern maps (os).

Listed as 'stockwell cottage' a late c17 or c18 building extended & modernised in the later c20. Rendered probably slate rubble wall incorporating some cob under a thatch roof. The two storey building probably originated as a two room plan (english heritage).
