Summary

Milestone on the Tavistock to Ashburton road set up by the ‘Tavistock Turnpike Trust’ circa 1772. The stone is located in a small hollow circa 50 metres west of ‘Pork Hill’ car park and to the south of ‘Cox Tor’. The stone has a diagonal fracture as the result of a road traffic accident. The inscription reads ‘Tavistock 3 miles Moreton Hampstead 17’
