Full description
Exeter Archaeology, 2003, East Devon Heathlands Archaeological Survey, 45, Part 2: Gazetteer, Site No. 156 (Report - Survey). SDV101648.
Sub-rectangular enclosure/field shown on modern Ordnance Survey 1:2500 map and Ordnance Survey 1891 map adjacent to west side of Uphams Plantation. On maps it can be seen that this area is actually western part of larger enclosure/field which contains the plantation (probably of post-medieval date). Boundaries overgrown and no longer in use. South bank 1.5 metres wide by 0.8 metres high on south side where ground drops away, 1 metre wide ditch on south side. West bank (only visible as line of relatively taller gorse) circa 2 metres wide by 0.4 metre high. An oval trackway probably related to World War Two activity is visible within this field on a 1946 aerial photograph.
