Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880s, Ordnance Survey (Cartographic). SDV848.

Site of two semi-detached buildings with an adjoining structure to the north shown on OS 25" (1880s) map. A leat, with a 'Sluice' to the north, is shown entering the west side of the building. A large reservoir c40m long x up to c20m wide is shown to the southeast.

Site of Wheal Maria wheelpit & building first shown on the 1848 map which was powered by a leat from the north & later by the large reservoir pond at SX41647390 to the east. The water wheel appears to have powered flat rods to & from Gard's Shaft (see PRN 3876). The survey found the large reservoir pond of 20m diameter had expanded to include the site of the wheelpit.
