‘Old Gravel Pit’ marked and shown on Ordnance Survey 1891 map at north end of Gittisham Hill. During field survey excavated area seen to south of Gittisham Hill House. Area extends from road (A375) eastward for circa 50 metres– 60 metres, and southwards from driveway to house for circa 100 metres. Up to circa 4 metres deep, with uneven floor.
